Welcoming word
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the National Center for Human Resources Development (NCHRD) website.
As NCHRD approaches its silver anniversary, I look back with admiration and pride as milestone projects supporting human resources development have been completed, and as we embark on new ones, and aspire for more.
Throughout our journey, we owe thanks to the guiding vision and leadership of HRH Prince El Hassan Ben Talal, Chairman of the Higher Council for Science and Technology.
President, NCHRD
Prof. Abdallah Yousef Ababneh
HRH’s vision of human resources development is one based on economic need, as one of based on a social and humanitarian calling. In so doing, it further capitalizes on the vision of HM King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, that human resources is Jordan’s prime resource capital.
Equally, the support of our outstanding team of academic and administrative colleagues and fellow researchers devoted to NCHRD and to our mission, further merit many thanks.
Today is a time to celebrate the stream of NCHRD’s ongoing achievements and to reflect on our journey, as we hold onto to our aspirations to make a difference, in the thinking driving human resource development, on both the policy and program levels.
In so doing, I have a long list of areas NCHRD was good at. On the policy level, some of milestone achievements include, the development of the Human Resources Strategy adopted by the Cabinet in 1998, the creation of the Human Resources Information System, bringing to the fore the vital role of the vocational education and training in Jordan’s National Agenda for human resource development, developing a Cataloguing of Occupations for the Arab region, in addition to conducting numerous monitoring and evaluation studies to inform national strategic policy development and the preparation of indicators in education, like the international studies TIMSS and PISA, and the national assessment study NAFKE.
Driving such accomplishments was the vision of bringing a community of specialists together, and putting them in the same place, and allowing them to be enriched by their interactions with others. The result was a dynamic institution that gained momentum, enriching ideas in every domain of human development it studied. And this remains the case today, as I express my sincere hope that NCHRD continues to play its role as a beacon of knowledge, and a lightning rod in human resource development in Jordan and the Arab region.
Finally it is my pleasure to thank my NCHRD colleagues, our website is an active instrument. It is becoming an important point of communication for those interested in finding out about what NCHRD doing or communicating our monthly Calendar of Events and for announcing projects, activities, etc., as well as an instrument for promoting policy oriented research and data-informed decision makers and planners in education and human resources development for policy makers, project specialists and researchers.
